April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July, began taking lessons on piano and guitar at age seven. She was interested in songwriting was awakened. At the age of seven April started taking guitar and piano lessons. The lessons sparked her passion to write songs. The year she turned 14 was when she devoted a great deal of time to creating song concepts and practicing her musical skills. Then, she began to take trips to NY and LA along with her dad to help them compose songs. April began also to incorporate different topics related to some of her classmates who struggle with issues such as peer pressure disabilities and even teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take" my Hand. Lockhart also has an ever-growing fan base as a lifestyle blogger and works for popular clean beauty company Ilia. She was born with no left hand. This is what makes her different. It's not the only characteristic of her. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on her Instagram account, but she does not make it the main focus of it. The point? that we are all a part of a multitude and that we are all unique and that we're much greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart, via video messages from his Nashville home, states that I don't wish for my physical appearance to define myself. I am far more than just my physical self. But it does not affect my day-to-day life. I continue to do the normal things and I've adapted to the limitations of my disability. Since it's a my identity, it's something that's worthy of discussion. Lockhart who is an motivation for self-acceptance generally she is on a long journey to achieve this. Yet, she confesses having moments of feeling uneasy about her appearance as well as wearing clothes which displayed her arms. Now, though she dons what she's comfortable in and post images of her outfits to social networks with a sense of pride. Self-love, she says, is a process. "I do not think that you will ever be in that place," she said. It's a fact that I see for everyone, whatever their insecurity is.
